Maja Højgaard is a Danish designer and ceramics artist based on the Island of Bornholm, Denmark. Her work varies from beautifully designed tableware to smoke fired urns and vases. Maja is inspired by the Nordic Nature that surrounds her and especially the raw nature of Iceland has been a big inspiration to her since her internship with Icelandic ceramicist Margrét Jónsdóttir in 2017. Her smoke fired works are carefully made with an eye for the detail and each pot is unique as she rarely throws the same pot twice. The pots are smoke fired overnight and in the morning the markings on the pots are revealed as she washes off the ashes.

Maja Højgaard is graduating from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation February 2019
